On Wednesday afternoon, Connor Swider a native from Portsmouth and a 2025 wing at Worcester Academy, announced his commitment to join Ethan Faulkner and the Youngstown State Men’s Basketball program next fall.

Swider reached right out to our Sports Director Austin Malutic and wanted to talk first with us about why he made the decision to Youngstown State.

"I had offers from Fairfield, Youngstown state, Bryant, & LeMoyne. But my top 2 were Youngstown and LeMoyne." Swider went on to explain his decision. "It means a lot. It has always been a lifelong dream of playing division 1 basketball. I wanted to be like my siblings and parents that have done it themselves. Having a school where I can call home feels really good now I can just worry about going to win a championship. The coaches made me feel at home on my visit, and their development plan for me was another huge reason. The coaches were consistently talking to me throughout the summer and through fall. On my visit to Youngstown I had no idea what to expect but I ended up seeing the campus which I thought was beautiful and the facilities including weight room and gyms."

Swider also is the youngest in his family out of the four, And he says he’s always had the chip on his shoulder and that has helped him grow throughout his journey.

From all of us here at Malutic Live we wish Connor Swider the best of luck in 2024-25 as he finishes his high school career.
